Gravity in Music

Music is a structure that can take on many different definitions, depending on the aesthetic perspectives and technical approaches through which it is understood. In my view, musical aesthetics are shaped not only by music itself, but also by values beyond music, as well as by our sociocultural realities and lived experiences.

In this presentation, we will focus on the fundamental pillars that give music its expressive power: melody, rhythm, and harmony. More specifically, we will explore the idea of establishing a center—which throughout this talk I will refer to as "being at home"—and the movement toward other centers, along with the points of transition between them, which I will describe metaphorically as "neighbors" and "relatives."

Together, we will engage in a profound yet accessible conversation about a complex musical subject—one that can be understood and appreciated by audiences from all backgrounds.
